Canon Announces EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR

The Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com! Pre-order yours today through the banner below to help fund this site when it transfers to it’s .net domain!

In early March, Canon announced the release of the EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR to mark the 25th anniversary of the EOS system. This camera packs a 22-megapixel full-frame CMOS image sensor as well as available ISO ranging from ISO 100 to ISO 25600 in it’s standard mode. However, users can adjust the ISO from ISO 50 all the way up to ISO 102400, which is pretty insane for any DSLR on today’s market. The EOS 5D Mark III is equipped with the new and improved Digic 5+ imaging processor which allows the image processing speed to be 17 times that of the Digic 4 imaging processor in the previous Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Another feature on this camera is it’s ability to shoot Raw images at either 5.5-megapixel or 10.5-megapixel resolutions, which is great news to photographers who want to shoot the best photos with no intention of blowing the images up into large scale prints.

The autofocus is very impressive on this camera compared to that of the previous EOS 5D Mark II. Why is that you ask? Well, the EOS 5D Mark II only has 9 autofocus points while the new EOS 5D Mark III has a 61-point autofocus system. Yes, I did just say 61-point. Even the 3.2 inch LCD screen is an upgrade from the EOS 5D Mark II. The screen resolution has jumped from 902k dots to a 1.04 million dot resolution. The viewfinder now offers 100% coverage, which outdoes the previous 98% coverage offered by the EOS 5D Mark II.

Kodak: Shuts Down Digital, Keeps Film Alive

Kodak in the News

Kodak
Kodak has announced that it will no longer produce digital cameras, pocket-size video cameras, as well as digital picture frames. This announcement comes less than a month after the Kodak announced that they would be seeking bankruptcy protection in the United States. Luckily, this photography icon will not be shutting down. Instead, Kodak will be investing in their film division, which comes as a huge reassurance to film photographers. Kodak reports that it’s decision to move towards keeping film alive will save the company over $100 million a year. Kodak’s newly changed consumer business will include photo kiosks(both retail-based and online), desktop inkjet printers, camera accessories, and batteries.

Nikon Confirms The 36.3 MP D800 Release

The rumors are true! Today in Tokyo, Nikon announced the release of the long-awaited Nikon D800 FX-format digital SLR camera. This camera offers the highest amount of pixels in any DSLR ever, 36.3-million pixels to be exact. That’s right, 36.3 megapixels in a single camera. The Nikon D800 also offers the same EXPEED 3 image-processing engine as well as the AF-module that can be found on the upcoming Nikon D4. The D800 will be equipped with an approximate 91,000 pixel RGB sensor that will provide users with breathtaking image quality and definitely give this camera a familiar name in the DSLR industry. Nikon really outdid themselves with this amazing camera that will also provide the user with high value new functions hidden in the lightweight and compact body. The body style of this beast of a camera resembles that of the Nikon D700 while having added on controls for the new video modes.

Not only will the Nikon D800 attract photographers, it will also knock the wind out of filmmakers looking to purchase their next DSLR for their films. Why is that? This camera will offer full HD D-Movie that allows filming in either the FX-based movie format or the DX-based movie format. This added feature is definitely going to spark a rivalry between the Nikon D800 and the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, a huge name in the DSLR filmmakers family.

This camera is now available for preorder on Amazon.com. Just visit the product page at the link below and purchase yours today!
